The controller decides on the purposes and means of processing personal data such as names, e-mail addresses or IP addresses. Full contact details are given in our imprint.

The short version

This site sets no cookies for visitors, uses no third-party analytics and embeds nothing from other services. Everything you see is served from our own server. There is no contact form, no newsletter and no user account — so there is very little for us to collect in the first place.

Server log files

You can browse this site without giving any personal details. With every request your browser transmits usage data that our hosting provider records in log files: the page requested, date and time, the amount of data transferred, the referring page, browser type and version, operating system and the requesting provider.

These records serve solely to keep the site running securely and reliably. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR — our legitimate interest in the technically faultless presentation and security of this website. The data is not merged with other sources and is deleted by the provider after a short period, as a rule after seven days.

Hosting

This website is hosted by plusserver GmbH, Hohenzollernring 72, 50672 Cologne, Germany. The provider processes the data described above on our behalf under a data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR. The servers are located in Germany.

Visit statistics

We keep a simple, self-hosted record of how the archive is used: which pages and clips were opened, what was searched for, and the visitor's country. This tells us which material is in demand. Legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR — our legitimate interest in understanding and improving our own offering.

Your IP address is never stored. It is used in memory only, to look up the country in a local database file, and is then discarded. To count a visit once rather than on every page, a one-way hash is formed from IP address, browser identification and the current date. Because the date is part of it, the same visitor produces a different value tomorrow — recognising anyone across days is not possible, and the hash cannot be reversed.

No cookies are involved. Records of confirmed visits are deleted after two years at the latest, all other entries after fourteen days.

Search terms are stored as typed, so please do not enter personal information into the search field.

The country is determined using the DB-IP Country Lite database (db-ip.com, CC BY 4.0) as a local file. No request leaves our server for this.

Links to Pond5 and Adobe Stock

Item pages link to pond5.com and, for part of the archive, to stock.adobe.com, where licences are issued. Preview images on this site are served from our own server, so no data is sent to either marketplace while you browse here. Once you follow such a link, the privacy policy of the operator you go to applies — we have no influence on their processing.

SSL/TLS encryption

This site uses SSL/TLS encryption for security. You can tell an encrypted connection by the address bar showing „https://" and the padlock symbol in your browser. When encryption is active, the data you transmit to us cannot be read by third parties.
